Constant Changes in Technology

When it comes to technology, it is no secret that companies are constantly searching for the next innovative piece of hardware or software that will revolutionize society. However, can rapid advances in technology ever be a bad thing? Take for example news stations and social media. There have been many instances when a news story is reported through an outlet such as Twitter or Facebook, only to later retract their reporting once more details emerge. This ofter leads to false initial reporting, or even worse, reporting of information that should not have been exposed. On the other hand, the quick delivery of information has its benefits as well, such as warning those in harms way when dealing with severe weather.

So what's the overall consensus. Is rapid advances in technology good or bad?
